Mid Stay

Mid stay

4-minute shuttle, mid-range price, and less faff than Long Stay

Mid Stay at Edinburgh Airport sits between the Long Stay and Multi-Storey options on both distance and price, with a shuttle that takes around 4 minutes to the terminal. It suits trips where you don’t want to pay Multi-Storey rates but also don’t fancy the longer Long Stay ride. Spaces are standard open-air bays, so factor in Scottish weather when loading bags.

The Mid Stay car park runs on a park-and-ride model with dedicated buses looping every few minutes during core flight banks, typically covering early departures from around 05:00–07:00. Several locals in Edinburgh forums say they book Mid Stay for most trips and only switch to Multi-Storey when they have a pram or heavy cases because of the lift access from the Multi-Storey straight into the terminal. If price checks show Long Stay is full or not much cheaper, Mid Stay often becomes the default pick.

Morning regulars point out one drawback: for those 06:00 departures in winter, you stand outside at the Mid Stay stop for the shuttle, which can feel rough in wind and rain compared with walking straight in from the Multi-Storey. On the return leg, some Trustpilot reviewers mention confusion over which Mid Stay zone and bus to use if they didn’t note their stop on the outbound journey.

What regulars do: they save the exact Mid Stay stop or zone number in their phone the moment they park, then look for that number again when they leave arrivals, so they get on the right bus first time. For an early flight, aim to park at least 45–60 minutes before check-in closes: that buffer covers finding a bay, walking to the stop, the 4-minute shuttle, and any short queue.
