On departure, the main Uganda Duty Free Sales units sit post-security in the international departures area of the Main Terminal, open for most overnight bank of flights from around 18:00 until the last departures close after 02:00. Staff usually quote prices in both USD and Ugandan shillings, and credit cards from major issuers like Visa and Mastercard are accepted, though small transactions under about USD 10 sometimes get pushback.
Spirits and cigarettes are the reason to walk over: TripAdvisor regulars report cigarette cartons priced well below UK and many EU duty-free levels, and liquor bottles often beat Kampala supermarket prices by a few dollars. Uganda’s allowance is 1L of spirits and 2L of wine per adult; expats often split that across a 1L whisky and a couple of 1L wine bottles on arrival.

You’ll also see some local crafts and coffee, but most frequent visitors buy those in town at places like Craft Village or supermarkets on Entebbe Road instead.
Watch out for impulse buys on arrival when you’re tired: there are only a few duty free shops here and several passengers label them “overpriced,” especially for gifts.
