Post-security at DWC, ROOTS is the main sit-down option

ROOTS sits airside at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) as the primary casual dining spot once you clear security, and it leans heavily into lighter, health-focused plates. It runs on a mid-range price tier, roughly $$ by Dubai standards, so expect mains to land in the moderate zone rather than fast-food cheap. Think salads, grilled proteins, and cleaner sides instead of fried everything.

This is a full-service setup, not a grab-and-go fridge, which matters in DWC where post-security choices are still limited compared with DXB’s Terminals 1 and 3. ROOTS falls in the “casual dining · healthy” lane, so you’re more likely to see quinoa, brown rice, or mixed greens than piles of fries. If you have 60–90 minutes before departure, you can sit, order, and still make boarding without stress.

Menus at similar $$ spots in Dubai usually run soft drinks around AED 10–18 and mains in the AED 40–70 band, and ROOTS tracks close to that range. Healthy-focused restaurants in the UAE often push fresh juices and smoothies, so budget for one of those if that’s your thing; they can hit AED 20–30 per glass. Expect vegetarian and possibly vegan options to be clearly marked, since that’s now standard across most Dubai casual dining outfits.

ROOTS operates post-security, so you can’t use it as a meeting point for non-fliers; anyone eating here needs a boarding pass and has already cleared immigration and security. That also means you won’t find duty free-sized crowds cutting through the seating area every five minutes, which keeps noise levels more manageable than the check-in hall.

Tip: If your DWC departure hits a typical late-evening bank (around 20:00–01:00), grab a proper meal at ROOTS before your gate shows “Boarding” — food options near some remote stands can shrink to one basic snack counter.
