Nero Express

24-hour caffeine stop before DWC security queues

Nero Express at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) runs 24/7, which matters on those 02:30 and 04:00 departures that Dubai cargo and charter banks run on. It sits airside in the passenger terminal, so you hit it after check-in and security, not before. Think quick counter-service rather than a sit-down meal, with orders usually out in under 10 minutes.

Drinks lean on the usual Nero playbook: espresso, americano, cappuccino, latte, and iced versions, with most coffees landing in the AED 15–22 range for a regular size. You can usually swap to skim or plant milk for a small upcharge around AED 3. They also pour soft drinks and bottled water if you just want something to go with a snack at the gate.

Food is simple grab-and-go: pre-made sandwiches, wraps, and pastries kept in a chilled case beside the counter. Expect prices roughly AED 18–30 for sandwiches and AED 10–18 for croissants, muffins, or cakes. It’s fine for a quick bite before a short-haul hop from DWC, but this is not the place to plan a long layover meal.

Seating is limited, mostly small tables and a few counter stools within sight of the gate area. Power outlets are hit-or-miss, so don’t bank on charging your laptop here; plug in at a general terminal charging stand instead. Turnover is fast, especially in the 90 minutes before each flight wave, so lingering with a laptop for two hours can feel awkward once queues build.

One practical tip: lines spike about 30–45 minutes before boarding, when several gates feed off the same cluster of passengers. Grab your coffee and sandwich right after security, then head to the gate to sit down, rather than waiting until your boarding group is on the display screens.
