DUS Rhein Lounge

B Open · 05:00-21:00 185 seats showers Day pass $31

Gate B area, 05:00 starts: this is the old Hugo Junkers lounge with a new name and the same complaints.

DUS Rhein Lounge sits airside in Terminal B’s Schengen pier, before passport control, in the space long known as the Hugo Junkers lounge. It opens daily from 05:00 to 21:00, mainly serving intra‑Schengen flights from Pier B. If your boarding pass says C‑gates for non‑Schengen, this lounge means an extra round of immigration and a walk back, which usually is not worth it for a quick drink.

Access runs through Priority Pass, DragonPass, TAV Passport, LoungeKey, and Diners Club; walk‑up day passes run about $31, paid by card only at the desk. Several flyers on FlyerTalk mention the staff refuse cash entirely, so don’t count on paying with leftover euro notes. If you already have a pass from your credit card, treat this as a way to sit down and charge devices, not as any kind of upgrade over the public concourse.

Food is the main weak spot: reviews describe mostly cold snacks, a very limited spread, and items that feel like a mediocre landside café copy‑pasted to Pier B. TripAdvisor comments call out stale bread, basic packaged sweets, and a thin alcoholic lineup with only a few spirits plus simple beer and wine. Wi‑Fi works for email and browsing, but regulars note it struggles if you try HD streaming or large downloads.

The room itself feels tired, and not in a “classic” way: multiple 2024–2025 reviews mention worn furniture, dirty or uncleared tables, and an ambiance closer to a crowded gate area than a premium space. One FlyerTalk user reported being told the shower was “out of service” despite seeing no obvious problem, and that shower issue has since become a recurring complaint, so do not plan your only pre‑flight rinse around this place.

Locals on FlyerTalk say they often skip all contract lounges in Terminals A and B entirely if they have more than 2–3 hours, riding the S‑Bahn into Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof instead; the train takes around 10–12 minutes from the airport station. Status passengers with Lufthansa or oneworld typically walk to airline‑branded lounges in A or contract options in C, even if that means an extra security or ID check.

Tip: if you already hold Priority Pass and your DUS layover near B‑gates is under an hour, DUS Rhein Lounge is acceptable for a soft drink and Wi‑Fi; if you would have to pay the $31 door rate, stick to the main terminal or consider heading into the city.
