Gate 400-side in T2, this WHSmith covers last-minute basics fast.
WHSmith – 400 Gates sits airside in Terminal T2, handy if you’re heading for the long-haul pier. It opens daily at 05:00 and closes around the evening bank at 20:00, so early departures and most US flights are covered, but late-night stragglers are out of luck.
Think standard WHSmith mix: bottled drinks, crisps, chocolate bars, sandwiches, and meal-deal style combos at roughly €6–€9. Coffee is basic but quicker than walking back to the main T2 food court if your gate call is already on screens. You’ll also find neck pillows, plug adapters, and basic toiletries, all priced at typical airport markup rather than outright gouging.
The magazine and book racks cover the usual UK/Irish papers plus a decent run of thrillers and paperbacks, often with 2-for-1 or “buy one, half price” stickers. Kids’ activity books and puzzle mags sit right by the counter, which helps if you’re trying to occupy a small person on a 7–8 hour transatlantic run.
Stock turns over quickly at the 400 Gates shop, so fresh sandwiches and wraps usually hit the fridge in time for the mid-morning wave of 09:00–11:00 departures. Expect tighter space than the main T2 WHSmith, and a bit of a queue spike when a couple of wide-bodies at the 400 stands board at once.
Tip: grab water and snacks here before you walk to the far 400s; it can be a solid 7–10 minute trek back if you change your mind.
