McNamara Parking Garage

Short-term parking

Three-minute indoor walk from car to McNamara check-in

The McNamara Parking Garage is the closest car option for DTW’s McNamara Terminal, with a covered walk that gets you from your spot to the Delta check-in area in under 10 minutes if you land near the main elevators. It’s short-term style, priced higher than the Evans garage and Big Blue Deck, but business travelers pay it because timing is predictable and you stay indoors the whole way.

This deck connects directly to the McNamara Terminal via enclosed skywalks, so you never step outside in Detroit winter or summer. It’s signed clearly for Delta, Air France, and KLM flights, and functions as DTW’s flagship garage for those carriers. Think of it as the “pay more, think less” option compared with remote or shuttle lots that add 10–20 minutes of uncertainty.

DTW regulars often park on the same level as the skywalk they use most (look for level markings in the elevator lobbies) and snap a quick phone photo of the row number because the structure runs long and gets disorienting after a 6‑hour return flight. One frequent Delta flyer on Reddit flat-out says the McNamara deck is worth every penny for the convenience when they’re flying weekly.

Some travelers on FlyerTalk note that the automated pay stations inside the garage can back up during peak Delta departure banks in the early morning and late afternoon. To avoid that, they recommend driving straight to the exit gates and paying by card there instead of queuing at interior machines, which can add 5–10 unnecessary minutes when you’re just trying to get home.

Practical tip: park close to the central elevator cores on the same level as your usual skywalk, grab a photo of the section sign, and you’ll be standing at McNamara security roughly 3–8 minutes after locking the car on a normal day.
