Local souvenirs kiosk

Gate-area prices, gate-area gifts

This small Local souvenirs kiosk sits inside Terminal 1 at Des Moines International, just past security near the central gate area. It focuses almost entirely on Iowa- and Des Moines-themed items, so you can grab something with the local name on it without backtracking to pre-security shops.

You’ll see the usual airport markups, but magnets, stickers, and keychains typically land under $10, and basic t‑shirts often run in the $20–$30 range. Inventory leans heavily on state-outline graphics, corn and farm motifs, and DSM-branded gear that actually mentions Des Moines instead of just “Iowa.”

The kiosk usually opens by the first morning departures, around 4:30–5:00 a.m., and stays open through the last mainline bank in the evening, roughly until 8:00–9:00 p.m., depending on the day’s schedule. It’s fully post-security, so you can stop here after TSA without padding your timeline much.

Selection runs from basic logo mugs and shot glasses to soft toys and small bags of regional candy and snacks. Most of the quick-grab food gifts are shelf-stable and sized under 4 oz, so you won’t run into extra security issues if you’re connecting later.

Practical tip: if you spot something you like, buy it on the first pass; stock is limited at a kiosk this size, and restocks during the day aren’t guaranteed.
