QR10 gets you from Hamad International to Al Khor by coach

The Intercity Coach to Al Khor runs from the Main terminal at Hamad International Airport and targets people who spend weeks or months working or living in Al Khor. A single ticket on the Mowasalat (Karwa) intercity coach sits around QR10–15, which is a fraction of the QR120+ you’ll pay for an official airport taxi to the same area. If you’re trying to keep costs down and your bed is north of Doha, this is the budget move.

Coaches depart from the public bus area near the Main terminal arrivals curb, next to the other Karwa city buses that serve routes like M111 and M118. Look for the Al Khor route boards and the green-and-white Karwa branding rather than the blue city buses. You pay with a Karwa smartcard, which you can buy at the airport kiosk in arrivals for roughly QR30 including initial credit, or you can top up an existing card if you already work in Qatar.

Expect the ride from Hamad International Airport to Al Khor city to take about 60–90 minutes, depending on traffic around Lusail and the northern expressways. The first coaches generally leave in the early morning around 5:00–6:00, and the last services tend to wind down close to 22:00–23:00, with headways often around 30–60 minutes at off‑peak times. If your flight lands at 01:00, assume you’ll be using a taxi or prebooked car instead of this coach.

Seats are standard intercity coach seats with basic air conditioning, and luggage rides in the interior rather than a dedicated underfloor bay, so a 23 kg checked suitcase plus a carry‑on is about the practical limit per person. Unlike some premium airport shuttles, there is no Wi‑Fi or seat‑back charging; if you need to work during the 70‑minute ride to Al Khor Corniche, charge your phone at the Main terminal before heading outside. Food isn’t sold on board, so grab water from a landside shop for around QR2–3.

Tip: If you land during peak Doha rush hour (roughly 07:00–09:00 and 16:00–19:00), plan for the coach to run closer to 90 minutes and give yourself at least a 30‑minute buffer before any fixed‑time commitments in Al Khor, like a 19:30 shift start or a meeting at an industrial camp.
