Gate-side Tex-Mex option in Terminal D

TX/MX sits airside in Terminal D at DFW, so you’re fine staying past security if your flight boards from any D gates. This is the Tex-Mex stop in the international-heavy terminal, aimed at quick sit-down or bar-service meals between long-haul flights.

Terminal D usually handles American Airlines international routes along with partners, so TX/MX often fills up around evening departure banks between 16:00 and 20:00. Build in at least 45 minutes if you want a proper meal instead of a rush order before a D20–D40 boarding call.

Pricing in Terminal D generally runs higher than in landside areas at DFW, and TX/MX is no exception, so plan on airport-level checks rather than street-side Tex-Mex. Expect entrées to land in the mid-teens to low twenties in dollars once you add a soft drink or coffee.

Menu style is what you’d expect from a place named TX/MX in Texas: tacos, quesadillas, fajita-style plates, plus standard salads and burgers to keep mixed groups happy. Portions at DFW sit-down spots are usually large enough to share one entrée and add an appetizer instead of ordering two full mains.

Bar seating at TX/MX works well if you’re solo and your D gate is nearby, since staff in Terminal D are used to guests watching departure screens for flights to London, Tokyo, and Mexico City. Seats with a sightline to the monitors help you cut it closer than if you’re tucked into a corner booth.

For quick-turn connections between D and A, B, C, or E, remember the Skylink train usually runs every 2–3 minutes, but you still burn 15–20 minutes door to door. Tip: if your flight departs from a far D40s gate, pay your check 10 minutes earlier than you think you need to and walk instead of waiting on the next train hop.
