Parking Overview
DFW’s Short-Term Parking is primarily the on-airport Terminal Parking garages at Terminals A, B, C, D, and E, designed for maximum convenience when you need to be close to the terminal. It’s the best choice for quick drop-offs/pickups, meeting arriving passengers, short business trips, or when mobility or time is a priority.
Expect a straightforward airport-garage experience: easy wayfinding, quick access to check-in, and generally good lighting and upkeep. For longer stays, it becomes expensive compared with DFW’s other on-site options (Express/Remote) and nearby off-site lots. Note: Terminal C’s south section has been closed for construction (central and north remain open), so allow extra time if you typically park there.
Pricing
Terminal Parking is priced by duration, making it workable for short visits but costly for multi-day trips. Current drive-up rates are: 0–8 minutes $9, 8–30 minutes $2, 30 minutes–2 hours $3, 2–4 hours $10, 4–6 hours $12, and 6–24 hours $32. A week at the daily rate is about $224 (7 × $32).
- Express Parking: $18/day uncovered or $21/day covered (about $126–$147/week) with shuttle service.
- Remote Parking: $14/day (about $98/week), the lowest-cost on-site option, also with shuttle service.
- Valet: $45/day for maximum convenience.
- Off-site lots: often $4–$15/day (varies by provider and coverage), usually with shuttles.
You can often save by booking in advance online through DFW’s official parking reservations and promos (discounts can be significant versus drive-up). Payment is typically via contactless and standard card-based garage payment systems.
Getting to Your Terminal
Terminal Parking is next to the terminal, so you generally walk directly into the building rather than waiting on a shuttle. Depending on where you park and the terminal layout, plan roughly 5–15 minutes from parking space to the check-in area.
If you choose Express or Remote as alternatives, you’ll use a complimentary shuttle to all terminals. Shuttle timing varies with traffic and demand, so budget 15–30+ minutes from lot arrival to terminal curb during busy periods.
Features & Security
- Covered vs. uncovered: Terminal garages are structured parking (better weather protection than open lots). Express offers covered and uncovered; Remote is typically open-air.
- Security/lighting: Expect standard airport-garage lighting and regular patrols; always lock valuables out of sight.
- Parking guidance: Guidance systems operate in Garages A, D, and E to help find open spaces faster.
- Accessibility: ADA spaces are available (noted on Levels 1 and 3 in terminal garages).
- EV charging: Official extracted data indicates no EV charging listed for these parking options; verify with DFW directly if you need charging.
- Cell Phone Lot: A free waiting area for pickups—ideal if you’re not ready to enter the terminal loop.
Booking Tips
- Reserve online when possible—especially for holidays and Monday morning business travel—to reduce stress and potentially cut costs.
- Arrive earlier during peak times; Terminal garages can fill closest-to-terminal levels first.
- Review cancellation/change rules during checkout if prebooking; policies vary by channel and promotional rate.
- If Terminal Parking is tight or you want lower cost, switch to Express (faster than Remote for many travelers) or Remote (best on-site value). For the lowest prices, compare reputable off-site shuttle lots and allow extra buffer time.
