D18 in Terminal D is where the DFW Centurion food-and-bar debate starts
Inside Terminal D near gate D18, The Centurion Lounge runs hard on food and cocktails, which is why frequent flyers now openly compare it to the Capital One Lounge down the hall. Hours are 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., so it covers the early east-coast bank and most transatlantic departures.
Access is by American Express Platinum, Centurion, and qualifying Delta/Amex co-brands, not by airline or terminal, so you’ll see people trekking in from A, B, C, D and E. That cross-terminal draw is exactly why you can hit a front-desk line here even on a random Tuesday around 10 a.m.
Food is the main play: reviewers consistently rank the hot buffet ahead of most airline clubs at DFW, and NerdWallet specifically calls out the freshly prepared dishes. Regulars build a full breakfast here at 6–8 a.m. and then skip buying food in the concourse later.
The bar is another strong point, with proper cocktails mixed to order and better spirits than you’ll see in many Admirals Clubs in Terminal A or C. If you drink, plan 20–30 minutes to actually sit and enjoy one; grabbing a quick drink before a 35-minute connection is asking for stress.
There’s a small spa and at least one shower suite, both mentioned in reviews, but waits can stretch past 30 minutes when the evening Europe bank builds around 4–7 p.m. Put your name down right after check-in if you need a rinse before an overnight flight.
Overcrowding is the recurring complaint. FlyerTalk threads talk about fully packed seating and people hovering for spots during late-morning and late-afternoon peaks, with some Amex Platinum holders bluntly saying they now default to the Capital One Lounge in Terminal D when they see a line at the Centurion door.
What regulars do: they swing by Centurion first from any D gate, take a 30-second look at the crowd, then either stay for breakfast or a drink or immediately walk to Capital One for similar quality in a calmer room. Many also target midday (11 a.m.–2 p.m.) or post-dinner after 8 p.m. to dodge the worst seat hunt.
Tip: if you’re landing into another terminal, factor in 10–15 minutes for the SkyLink ride to D plus a possible front-desk queue; don’t burn a Centurion visit on a sub-40-minute DFW connection.
