Proper steak-and-beer sit-down in Concourse A

Concourse A’s Denver Chophouse is one of the few spots at DEN where you can sit down for a real steak and a local beer instead of grabbing something boxed at the gate. It sits airside in A, so plan on this if your boarding pass says A-anything and you’ve got at least 60–90 minutes to spare.

Menu prices run high for airport food: burgers often land in the mid-$20s and steak plates push well past $30. Reddit regulars like u/den_business_trav call it their go-to for a “real meal and a beer” during long afternoon holds. Portions come out large enough that splitting an entrée with a coworker actually makes sense and takes the sting off the bill.

Service pace swings with the bank of departures hitting A around the :30 and :45 marks each hour, so don’t sit down at Denver Chophouse 40 minutes before your 7:15 p.m. flight and expect a relaxed steak. When it’s busy, figure 15–20 minutes for drinks, 20–30 for mains, and more if you order steak mid-rare or beyond.

Steak quality gets mixed notes: some flyers report a solid ribeye one week and an overcooked strip the next, which lines up with typical airport staffing churn. Because of that, frequent travelers head for safer plays like the house burger, sandwiches, or salads, which tend to be more consistent than the $40-ish steak cuts.

The bar area usually moves faster than the dining room and is friendlier to solo travelers on work trips. Regulars grab a bar stool, order a burger and a Colorado draft, and can realistically be in and out in 45–60 minutes between A30–A48 departures.

Tip: If you land in the Jeppesen Terminal and plan Denver Chophouse before an evening flight from A, add 20 minutes for the train plus the walk and ask for the bar side when you check in at the host stand.
