Vino Volo

Gate-side wine bar refuge in Terminal 2

In Terminal 2 at DCA, Vino Volo is the calm bar regulars use when they want a real glass of wine and a seat that isn’t glued to a TV. It’s post-security, price tier $$, and feels more like a neighborhood wine bar than the usual airport pub. Expect smaller pours, but more interesting bottles than you’ll see at the nearby sports bars.

Wine flights run higher than standard airport beers, and several flyers call them “not cheap” in Yelp and Google reviews, but still worth it for the quality. A popular move is a Pinot Noir or regional tasting flight paired with a cheese or charcuterie plate, which runs to light-meal territory without being a full dinner. If you just need one glass, staff can steer you toward something off the usual California suspects.

Food is mostly small plates: think cheese boards, cured meats, nuts, and a few bites that can work as snacks between a 90‑minute connection and boarding. If you need an actual entrée before a 5‑hour transcon, eat elsewhere in Terminal 2 and then come here for a glass. Portions are on the modest side, so don’t bank on this as your only stop if you skipped lunch.

The seating area is relatively quiet for Terminal 2, and regulars say it’s one of the better spots to open a laptop and answer email for 45 minutes. Service can slow down when only one or two people are behind the bar and the place fills with delayed flights, so build in a 10–15 minute buffer if you’re ordering a flight before boarding.

One extra: you can often buy bottles to go, subject to post‑security TSA liquid rules, which helps if you’re connecting or headed straight to a hotel. Tip: grab a table near the edge of the seating area so you can hear nearby gate announcements without losing your seat or your tab.
