Economy Parking

Long-term parking

$12 per day is the rock-bottom on-airport rate at DCA

Economy Parking at Reagan National is the only true budget lot on airport property, sitting well below the $20/day daily garages. It’s the long-term play: you trade proximity for price, and you’re committing to the shuttle instead of walking into Terminal 1 or 2. If you’re leaving the car for 5+ days, the math usually beats most Crystal City hotel park-and-fly deals unless you find a unicorn rate.

This is a surface lot, signed as Economy, with a flat $12/day posted rate, so week-long trips land around $84 before any fees. Compare that to $140 in the daily garages at $20/day and you’re effectively getting three days “free” by moving to Economy. Flyers in the DCA threads even use that 40–50% spread as their rule of thumb for when off-airport hotel parking starts to make sense.

Access runs through the airport’s shuttle loop, and you are fully reliant on the blue Economy shuttle to reach Terminals 1 and 2. Figure on 10–15 minutes curb to curb in normal conditions, plus another 5–10 minutes of waiting time if you just miss a bus. For truly painful departures in the 5:00–6:00 a.m. band, many regulars bite the bullet and pay for the on-airport garages to avoid worrying about a slow start on the shuttle circuit.

What regulars do: they park in Economy only for longer trips and daytime or evening flights, often drawing the line around four or five days before they even consider the daily garages. Some also compare a week at $12/day to bundled Crystal City hotel packages, then decide if the extra transfer is worth it. Tip: for morning flights, back up your shuttle with a rideshare ETA in your head; for late-night returns, snap a photo of your row marker the second you park so the dark surface lot doesn’t turn into a search party at 11:30 p.m.
