Cappuccinos and cloves in Terminal 2
Coffee & Spice Traders sits airside in Terminal 2 at DAR, just past security and a short walk from several international gates. It’s a small counter setup, so think grab-and-go more than sit-down, with only a few stools nearby. You’ll see it on the main concourse before you reach most souvenir shops.
Drip coffee and basic espresso drinks usually price in the TSH 4,000–8,000 range, with simple snacks like cookies and packaged pastries a bit higher than in town but normal for Julius Nyerere International Airport. Expect paper cups only and limited customisation beyond “single/double” and “milk/no milk.” Service pace matches the rest of Terminal 2: not slow, not rushed.
As the name hints, they also sell boxed spices and small coffee bags you can throw in a carry-on. You’ll find labelled packets of cloves, cardamom, and mixed masala starting around TSH 5,000, plus ground and whole-bean Tanzanian coffee in the 250 g range. It’s more airport-gift pricing than wholesale, but still fine if you forgot to shop in town.
No official hours are posted, but regulars report most Terminal 2 outlets tracking the peak international bank, so plan on roughly 2–3 hours of opening around major departures. Stock can run low on late-night flights, especially for snacks. Tip: if you care most about coffee quality, stop here before walking farther down the concourse; if you care about food, scout other options first, then circle back for beans or spices.
