Twiga Lounge

3

Terminal 3’s Twiga Lounge is the new contract space Air Tanzania keeps pushing in its social feeds, and it sits airside in the international departures zone of DAR’s newest terminal.

You’ll find Twiga Lounge after security in Terminal 3, accessible on a pay-per-use basis for passengers on any airline using T3, so it’s an option even if you’re not flying Air Tanzania out of Julius Nyerere International Airport.

Because there’s no hard data yet on opening hours, treat it as standard international bank: roughly 3 hours before the first T3 departures until the last wave goes out, and confirm at the check-in desk of your airline if you’re on a very early or very late flight.

Pricing isn’t publicly posted, but most pay-per-use lounges at DAR sit in the US$30–45 range for roughly a 3-hour stay, so budget in that band for Twiga Lounge and expect card payments in Tanzanian shillings at the desk inside Terminal 3.

Air Tanzania’s promotional video shows Twiga with modern seating and calmer lighting than the main T3 concourse, which can get loud once several widebody flights board from the same pier of gates in the evening bank.

Food in the video looks like a small hot buffet plus light snacks rather than a full restaurant, so plan on something like rice, a stew or curry, and finger food instead of a full three-course meal before your long‑haul out of Terminal 3.

Drinks shown in clips appear limited to soft drinks, tea, and coffee rather than a premium bar, so if you want specific spirits or regional Tanzanian beers, grab one in the main departures area of Terminal 3 before heading into Twiga Lounge.

No footage shows showers or lie‑flat daybeds, and the official clips avoid that topic entirely, so assume Twiga Lounge offers only regular lounge armchairs and standard restrooms, not full refresh facilities for a 10‑hour overnight layover.

The older CIP lounge in other parts of DAR used to be the default, but Twiga now positions itself as the “newer” option in Terminal 3 for Air Tanzania and other carriers using this building’s international gates.

Practical tip: if your flight leaves from Terminal 3 and you want a quieter seat to charge devices, head to Twiga Lounge right after clearing security, then walk back to your gate about 35 minutes before scheduled boarding.
