Coca leaves, candies, and teas right inside CUZ departures
Coca Shop sits airside in Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, just past security before the main gates for domestic departures. It focuses on coca-based products you see all over Cusco: dried leaves, candies, cookies, chocolates, and tea bags, mostly packed in small, travel-ready sizes. Expect everything to be geared toward carry-on shopping in the 10–20 minute window before boarding calls start.
Prices run higher than in central Cusco: a small bag of coca candies or tea can be around 8–15 PEN, and mixed gift packs climb toward 25–40 PEN. In exchange you get airport-friendly packaging, barcodes that scan easily at customs, and items already sealed to survive cabin pressure and baggage handling. Payment is usually in soles, but many stands in CUZ also take cards; have a backup card ready since smaller airport shops sometimes have spotty terminals.
The shelves lean hard into souvenirs: coca-infused chocolates, coca tea boxes, “Inca-style” snack assortments, and miniature tins meant as gifts. You’re paying for branding and last-minute convenience more than for rare product lines; most of what you see here shows up in San Pedro Market and tourist shops around Plaza de Armas at lower prices. If you want pure coca leaves specifically, check labels and buy smaller sealed pouches rather than loose bags.
Tip: check airline and destination rules on coca products before tapping your card. Some countries treat even coca tea as a controlled import, so it’s smarter to buy smaller 10–20-sachet boxes and keep receipts handy in case security or customs asks what’s in your bag.
