The Bar

The airport “small bar past security” is just called The Bar

This is the nameless-sounding spot people reference in CUR threads when they say “the little bar after security.” The Bar sits airside at Hato International Airport, just beyond the central post-security area, so you’re already through checks before you reach it. It’s a simple walk-up counter with a few seats, not a sit-down restaurant with table service.

The Bar focuses on drinks first: beer, basic spirits, and a couple of standard mixed drinks, typically in the ANG 6–15 range depending on what you order. You’ll usually find at least one local Curaçao beer in bottles and the expected big-name lagers. Food, if available, leans toward packaged snacks or reheated bites rather than full meals, so plan to eat elsewhere in the terminal if you want something more than chips or nuts.

Hours track the day’s departures at CUR, with The Bar generally open from the late morning bank of flights through the last evening outbound, roughly 10:00 to 20:00, though exact times float with the schedule. Don’t count on an early 06:00 drink before the first flights; operation ramps up once passenger traffic builds. If you have a late-night delay past the final scheduled departure, shutters can come down earlier than you’d like.

You won’t find an official menu online, and there’s no strong consensus on a standout cocktail, so order something simple: a cold bottle of Polar or Balashi, a rum-and-Coke, or a straightforward gin and tonic. Expect to pay in Netherlands Antillean guilders (ANG) or US dollars, with change sometimes coming back in ANG coins. Service speed tracks how many people are in the small seating area at any given time.

Tip: If you care about food more than drinks, grab a proper meal in the public check-in area or earlier in Curaçao city, then use The Bar after security as a quick drink stop only.
