Panini Spot

Paninis at CUR run you vacation-dinner money for lunch food

Panini Spot sits past security in Curaçao’s terminal, charging roughly mid-range restaurant prices ($$) for grilled sandwiches you eat standing at a counter. Figure on paying more here for a basic ham-and-cheese than you did for a full plate in town at Plasa Bieu or a local café. It’s the stand people mean in those Facebook threads about “airport paninis costing way more than food in Willemstad.”

Menu is straight to the point: hot paninis, simple grilled sandwiches, maybe a premade wrap or two, plus bottled drinks. Expect standard fillings like ham, turkey, cheese, tomato, and a pesto or mayo spread, with very little in the way of Curaçao-specific flavors. Most sandwiches land in the mid-teens in ANG or the low teens in USD, and portions routinely get compared unfavorably to the generous plates downtown.

Quality is fine for a quick bite, just not memorable for the price, and that’s the theme across most CUR food reviews. Frequent flyers on Curaçao forums talk about eating properly in town, then using the airport for coffee, water, or a snack only. No standout “order this” dish turns up in any of the usual trip reports, which tells you most people eat here out of timing, not preference.

Watch out for: sticker shock. If two people each grab a panini and a soft drink, you’re often close to ANG 60–70 (around $35–40), which feels steep when you’ve just paid half that for grilled fish in the city. Lines can also back up if a few flights depart within 45 minutes of each other, since every sandwich gets pressed to order.

Tip: if your hotel is within 20–30 minutes of CUR, eat a real meal in town, then head to the airport and use Panini Spot only as a backup plan for delays longer than an hour.
