Wako

Upscale watches and jewelry, airport-mall side of New Chitose

Wako sits in the shopping mall zone of New Chitose Airport, before security, and runs more like a Ginza boutique than a quick duty free counter. It’s a compact store, but the focus is clear: higher-end watches and fine jewelry from a well-known Japanese luxury name. Think “treat yourself on the way home,” not “forgot a souvenir, need something under ¥2,000.”

Prices track standard boutique levels, and reviews call out that there’s no special airport discount, so expect full luxury retail tags. That means you’re browsing in the same ballpark as city-center Wako stores, just in Domestic/International airport-mall form. If you already know your reference numbers or collection lines, you’ll feel at home; if you don’t, staff can walk you through options in calm one-on-one style.

Selection leans curated rather than massive: a focused rack of watches, a case or two of jewelry, and gift-appropriate small pieces that sit in the “milestone present” tier. This is the place for a serious gift upgrade compared with the character shops and food stalls elsewhere in New Chitose. Figure 10–20 minutes for a real look, longer if you’re comparing watch models or debating metals and stones.

Watch out for the clock: because Wako is in the public mall, you still need time to walk to Domestic or International security and then to your gate. Quick rule of thumb: finish purchases at least 45 minutes before boarding. If you’re on a tight connection, window-shop, snap photos of what you like, and plan to buy later at a city boutique instead.
