VIP Lounge ITA "Piazza Bellini"

A Open · 04:00 – 21:00

Fast-track side, 04:00 start: this is CTA’s ITA lounge

The VIP Lounge ITA "Piazza Bellini" sits landside in Terminal A, just left of the departures and security area, next to the fast track entrance. It opens early at 04:00 and closes at 21:00, so it lines up well with the first ITA Airways departures out of Catania-Fontanarossa Airport (CTA).

Access is mainly for ITA Airways passengers, with day passes sold at the door when space allows; expect a simple setup rather than a flagship lounge. Think one staffed front desk handling boarding questions and basic help, plus departure monitors so you can track flights without heading back to the main hall.

The space is small by big-hub standards, closer to a quiet corner than a full club level, and reports on FlyerTalk describe it as “small, think self serve coffee, drinks, snacks and departure monitors.” You will not find showers, nap rooms, or work pods here, so build expectations around a seat, Wi‑Fi, and light refreshments before security.

Food and drink run to self-serve machines and fridges: standard coffee, soft drinks, and packaged snacks rather than hot buffet trays. If you want a proper meal, you’re better off eating in the main Terminal A concessions and then dropping back here for a coffee and screen time; prices airside for hot food are high but the choice is still better than the lounge spread.

Regulars on CTA routes say the trick is to look left as you face the departures zone and fast track, then head straight to the ITA lounge before joining any security queues. Because it’s landside, you can sit here with family until close to boarding time, then move through fast track and on to gates in Terminal A or C.

Watch out for peak morning and early evening bank times, roughly 06:00–08:30 and 18:00–20:00, when ITA flights bunch up and the room feels tight. Seating fills quickly, and with only one front desk and limited power outlets, you might end up standing or hunting for a plug if you arrive late in those windows.

One practical tip: if your connection is short, skip the day pass, clear security first, and only use Piazza Bellini on longer layovers of 60–90 minutes where a basic chair, Wi‑Fi, and coffee actually save you stress.
