Shuttle bus

Ryanair and Wizz Air flyers use TEC A2 to reach smaller Walloon towns without detouring through Brussels.

The TEC A2 shuttle bus links Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL) with Liège, via multiple stops in Wallonia, and mainly serves cost‑focused passengers landing on Ryanair and Wizz Air in T1 and T2. It runs as a regular regional bus, not an express airport coach, so expect a slower ride with on‑route stops. You pay standard TEC regional fares, not premium airport pricing, which is the main reason people pick it over rail via Charleroi‑Sud and Brussels‑Midi.

Buses depart from the ground transport zone directly outside T1, about a 3–5 minute walk from arrivals in both T1 and T2. Look for TEC signs marked “A2” with the Liège routing shown on the front of the bus. The line typically runs in a fixed pattern along the E42/A15 corridor, with scheduled stops in intermediate towns before reaching Liège. Check the TEC website or app for the exact timetable and list of stops on your date, because departure times and stopping patterns can change with seasonal schedules.

A single TEC A2 ticket usually costs just a few euros more than a basic local fare, far less than a taxi to Liège, which can run over €120. You can often buy tickets at airport machines near arrivals or directly from the driver, but drivers may prefer contactless payment or exact cash in euros. Keep a printed or screenshot copy of the current TEC A2 timetable with departure minutes, because airport information screens in T1 and T2 don’t always show regional buses as clearly as long‑distance coaches.

TEC A2 ride time from CRL to Liège can be 60–90 minutes, depending on time of day, traffic on the E42, and how many intermediate stops you hit. Because it is not a dedicated airport coach, boarding can be slow when large Ryanair or Wizz Air flights land at the same time, and every extra stop adds a few minutes. Factor in at least 20 minutes from block time to bus departure if you land with hand baggage, and 35–40 minutes if you need to wait for checked bags from T1’s carousels.

One practical tip: screenshot the last two TEC A2 departures of the day so you know exactly when you’re out of options, and line up at the stand 10–15 minutes early for evening buses to grab a seat rather than standing for an hour.
