Gate area in Terminal 2 is where you hit Tax Free first after security.
This is the main duty free in Terminal 2 at CPH, so you walk straight into it once you clear security. Standard liquor, perfume, skincare, chocolate, and tobacco setup, all post-security with prices in DKK and clear “2 for” promos on spirits and wine. Think quick last-minute gifts and EU-duty-paid alcohol, not rock-bottom border-shop pricing.
Liquor and wine often run on multi-bottle deals, so if you’re buying two 700 ml bottles of mid-range whisky or gin, Tax Free usually undercuts downtown Copenhagen supermarkets by a bit. Single high-end bottles (aged whisky, niche perfume houses) tend to price closer to city-center department stores, so it’s worth skipping those if you’re picky about value. Chocolate multipacks and big-brand cosmetics sets are where most people save a few DKK.
Opening hours generally track the Terminal 2 flight bank, with doors open early morning through late evening whenever departures run. That means you can usually grab something for a 06:00 departure or an after-21:00 flight, but very late-night gaps do happen outside peak summer. Expect standard EU-duty rules: within Schengen you pay regular VAT, and true duty-free rates mostly apply on non-EU routes.
Lines build fast around the central cashier islands before 08:00 and again around 16:00 when SAS and other carriers push banks of departures from T2. If you just want a single bottle or a quick perfume refill, aim for mid-morning or mid-afternoon instead of those peaks. Last tip: walk the full liquor and perfume aisles once; the better bundle offers often sit at the far end of the shop, not at the front promo tables.
