Priority Pass quotas close this lounge before the doors actually shut

This is Escape Lounges in T1, in the old Reef Lounge space between Gates 2 and 3, past outbound security. Official hours are 09:00–12:00 daily, plus 15:30–19:00 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, but multiple reports say Priority Pass access can stop as early as 12:30 and all access can cease around 15:00 on some days. Treat the posted timetable as a loose guide, not a guarantee.

Access works three ways: airline premium cabins, memberships, or cash. Business Class passengers on Singapore Airlines, Fiji Airways and Cathay Pacific are admitted, as are Priority Pass cardholders and day-pass guests. Walk-up pricing runs about A$70, with pre-booking online around A$60 mentioned on Australian Frequent Flyer. Children under 3 enter free with a paying adult, so a family of four with one toddler pays for only three.

Inside, reviews peg this as solid but plain. One Australian Frequent Flyer member called the food and drink “quite adequate”, not something to detour for. Expect basic hot dishes, snacks and self-serve drinks rather than a full restaurant-grade spread; think small international station, not a big-city flagship like Sydney or Melbourne. The same poster mentioned “plenty of room to sit” and “plenty of power points”, so charging laptops and phones is straightforward.

The 3-hour stay cap matters. Escape and Amex both state entry is limited to three hours before departure, so you can’t camp from 09:00 through a late-afternoon flight. Staff also apply capacity limits by product: some Priority Pass users on Facebook reported being turned away as “quota reached” while seeing free seats inside, even during advertised opening hours. Turn‑up access is explicitly “subject to availability”, which the door staff interpret quite tightly in peak periods.

Regulars work around this. On Australian Frequent Flyer, the common play is to book online at about A$60 and arrive right at 09:00 or at 15:30 so you’re ahead of the Priority Pass wave. During the busy May–October season, Escape’s FAQ says groups over six aren’t accepted in one booking, so bigger families and tour groups either split into smaller bookings or skip it and use the gate area and cafés in T1 instead.

Practical tip: if you value lounge time more than A$10, pre-book online for around A$60, aim for the session opening (09:00 or 15:30), and keep a specific backup café in T1 in mind in case the lounge declares itself “full” on arrival.
