Uber shows as “Unavailable” when you land at CMN

If you open Uber or Bolt in T1 or T2 at Mohammed V International Airport, you’ll usually see no cars available at all. Forum posts from 2018 through 2024 repeat the same thing: Uber doesn’t operate in Casablanca, and ride-hail simply isn’t a standard way out of CMN. Treat the apps as a backup information tool at best, not as your primary ride plan.

Both terminals, T1 and T2, feed arrivals into the same ground level, where you’ll see official petit and grand taxis lined up within about 50–100 meters of the exit doors. Regulars say ride-hailing “is not really a thing” at the airport, so they walk straight to the taxi queue or down to the ONCF train station under the terminal instead of refreshing Uber or Bolt on their phones.

One TripAdvisor thread spells it out clearly: a local replies “Uber doesn’t operate” in Casablanca and tells visitors to use taxis or the train to get into the city, roughly 30 km away. A second commenter in the same discussion adds that locals rely on regular taxis from CMN, confirming that any app-based alternative is, at best, patchy and unofficial. Assume zero app coverage when you plan arrival timing and cash needs.

The main complaint from app-loyal travelers: they land after a 3–6 hour flight from Europe, fire up Uber in T1 arrivals, and hit a dead end. That turns into last-minute fare haggling with taxi drivers in front of the terminal, usually quoted in Moroccan dirham for the 30–45 minute run into central Casablanca. If you hate bargaining, this is the wrong airport to rely on ride-hail.

What regulars do is simple: they ignore Uber/Bolt upon landing, walk 2–3 minutes to the taxi rank, or follow signs to the train station and grab the ONCF service that runs roughly every hour. The practical play: screenshot your hotel address in French/Arabic before you fly and budget as if you will take a taxi or train, then treat any working ride-hail car as a rare bonus, not the plan.
