Hotel Shuttles

That “free” airport Marriott stay can also cover your ride

Most CMH-area chain hotels run free shuttles to Terminal T, so if work put you at a Marriott, Hilton, or similar, you often skip a $20–$30 Uber. Rides usually take 10–30 minutes depending on traffic and how many stops the van makes near the airport or downtown.

Shuttles at CMH are not continuous. Almost every review says the same thing: call the hotel after you land. Many properties only dispatch a van once you phone the front desk from baggage claim, and some guests report pickups in under 10 minutes while others wait closer to 25–30 minutes, especially late at night.

Pickup is in the ground transportation area outside Terminal T, usually at the signed hotel-shuttle zone shared by multiple properties. At peak evening arrival banks, several vans can stack up in the same few spaces, so knowing your exact hotel name and watching for its logo on the doors saves you from waving down the wrong white Ford.

Step-by-step: catching your hotel shuttle at CMH

  • 1. Land and check shuttle hours. As you taxi in, look up your hotel’s shuttle details in your confirmation email or on the hotel’s site; many advertise “24-hour” service but actually run limited overnight schedules.
  • 2. Call from the jet bridge or concourse. Regulars start the clock early: phone the front desk as soon as you have signal after deplaning instead of waiting until baggage claim.
  • 3. Confirm pickup spot and van description. Ask for the exact curb (hotel-shuttle zone in ground transport), typical wait time, and what the van looks like (color, logo, vehicle type).
  • 4. Grab bags, then head outside. By the time you collect luggage at CMH, you’ve usually burned 10–15 minutes, which lines up with many hotels’ quoted ETAs.
  • 5. Watch for your specific hotel name. Multiple Marriotts, Hiltons, and IHG brands serve the airport; check the side of the van so you don’t end up at the wrong Courtyard or Hampton.
  • 6. Load smart if you have big luggage. Vans can get cramped when three parties board at once, and space for large checked bags is limited to the rear or a small trailer on some vehicles.
  • 7. For early flights, book your return run. At check-in, many front desks let you reserve a specific shuttle time for a 5:00–7:00 a.m. departure so you’re not gambling on a sleepy overnight driver.

One practical tip: if the promised shuttle still hasn’t appeared after about 20–25 minutes, many frequent guests just call an Uber, then ask the hotel for points or a credit later.
