Long Term Lot 1

Economy parking

Weekly trips, lower rates, still on airport property

Long Term Lot 1 sits on airport grounds at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) and functions as the value play for Main Terminal flyers who don’t want off-site shuttles. It’s an economy surface lot, usually priced several dollars per day under the CLT Decks at the Hourly and Daily garages. You park yourself, keep your keys, and walk straight to clearly marked shuttle stops scattered throughout the rows.

This lot feeds the continuous Long Term shuttle that runs between Long Term 1, other economy areas, and the Main Terminal curb. Shuttles loop 24/7, with peak times in early morning bank hours around 5:00–8:00 a.m. and in the evening from about 7:00–10:00 p.m. Typical ride time from the far end of Long Term 1 to the terminal sits around 8–12 minutes, depending on traffic on Josh Birmingham Parkway and terminal congestion. Build a 20–30 minute buffer from car door to security.

Payment runs through the standard CLT parking system: you pull a ticket at entry and pay on exit, or you tap a credit card at both gate arms for a ticketless in-and-out. Daily rates for Long Term Lot 1 generally undercut the Daily Deck by a few dollars per calendar day and can make a big difference on 5–7 night trips. Because this is an official airport lot, there’s on-site security patrol and airport-operated lighting across the rows.

If your flight departs before 7:00 a.m., assume lighter shuttle frequency and factor an extra 10 minutes beyond the usual 20–30 minute car-to-check-in buffer. The practical move: snap a quick photo of your row number and nearest shuttle stop sign before you head to the Main Terminal so the late-night return from CLT baggage claim doesn’t turn into a slow crawl through a sea of similar sedans.
