Duty Free Pickup Zone

Most Jeju duty-free buys get picked up airside, not downtown

In Terminal 1 at Jeju International, the Duty Free Pickup Zone sits airside after security, serving passengers on short-haul international flights to places like Japan and China. This isn’t a browse-and-buy shop; it’s a counter where you collect items you pre-ordered online or bought at downtown duty-free stores in Korea. If you didn’t pre-purchase using your passport and flight details, you generally can’t buy anything here.

The counter opens in sync with international departures in T1 and usually shuts when the last outbound flight clears, so it may not be staffed if you’re on an early domestic leg. Bring your passport, boarding pass, and the order number or QR code from your retailer; staff match the details and hand over sealed bags that comply with international security rules for liquids. Expect a short queue just before peak departures, especially around late-morning and evening flights.

Pickup is typically for cosmetics, electronics, and liquor from Korean duty-free chains; prices are whatever you locked in at order time, not set by the airport. If you’re connecting domestically after landing in Jeju from abroad, note that the Duty Free Pickup Zone only serves outbound international passengers in Terminal 1 and won’t help with missed pickups from another airport.

Last thing: build in at least 15 extra minutes before boarding to find the counter after immigration and clear any line, instead of cutting it close and stressing over your prepaid duty-free bags.
