Most CID hotel shuttles pick up outside Door 4

Most hotel shuttles at The Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) use the courtesy vehicle lane near Door 4 outside the Main Terminal baggage claim, so you don’t have to cross the main road with luggage. These are private buses run by individual hotels, so you need a reservation or at least a confirmed room before you count on a pick-up.

Only a portion of Cedar Rapids and Coralville/Iowa City hotels run shuttles to CID, and several limit service to guests arriving between about 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Always check your specific hotel’s CID shuttle hours on the day you fly, since some cut service on Sundays or after 9:00 p.m.

Most hotels that do run shuttles operate them on-demand instead of a fixed schedule, which means you usually call the front desk from baggage claim once you land. Plan on 10–25 minutes for the van to reach the Main Terminal after you call, depending on traffic on I‑380 and how many stops the driver already has.

Hotel shuttles at CID are typically free for registered guests, and drivers expect you to tip a few dollars per bag, just like you would with a taxi. If your hotel sits more than 15 miles from the airport, ask directly about a shuttle fee, since a few properties only cover part of the ride or require a minimum two-night stay.

Several hotels share one van between multiple properties along I‑380, so the shuttle might stop at 2–3 hotels before yours. That can push a 15-minute drive to 30 minutes in peak times, especially around the 7:00–8:00 a.m. and 4:00–6:00 p.m. departure banks when crews and groups move together.

Some front desks close shuttle requests 30–60 minutes before your airport drop-off time, and it’s common for properties near Collins Road NE to ask you to book your return ride at check‑in. If your flight leaves before 6:00 a.m., confirm the shuttle can get you to CID at least 90 minutes before departure.

Practical tip: As soon as you step into the baggage claim area in the Main Terminal, call your hotel from your mobile, then walk straight to Door 4 so the driver doesn’t loop the curb without finding you.
