Main Terminal still has a real bookstore: Books & More

This shop sits in the Main terminal concourse at Charleston International (CHS), filling the old-school airport bookstore role that the larger Hudson units skipped. You get dedicated shelves of paperbacks, travel guides, and current magazines instead of just a rack beside snacks. It’s inside the secure area, so you can browse after TSA without watching the clock at the ticketing level.

Books & More focuses on print: bestsellers, mass-market fiction, a few hardcovers, plus national magazines you actually recognize by name. Expect typical airport pricing, so that $18 trade paperback from home might run closer to $20 here. You’ll still find basic travel add-ons like neck pillows and simple earbuds, but this is more books-first than the Hudson store a few gates away.

Hours generally track flight banks, opening early morning for the first departures out of CHS and staying open into the evening rush around the 6–8 p.m. wave. Stock turns over based on national lists more than local favorites, so think Colleen Hoover before obscure South Carolina history. If you care about condition, scan the shelves for cleaner copies; high-traffic days around holidays can leave some covers scuffed.

Plan on 5–10 minutes to walk from most Main gates over, grab a book, and get back before boarding. Tip: if you’re tight on time, head straight to the front tables near the entrance—those usually hold the newest releases and current top 10 titles, so you’re not hunting deep in the aisles with a Group 2 call already going out.
