Gate-side books and snacks before T1 security
Right in the Departures Free Access Area of Terminal T1, Hudson is the last straightforward stop for magazines, snacks, and drinks before you hit security at Chania (CHQ). It sits in the landside zone, so friends and family who aren’t flying can still pop in with you before you head airside.
Hudson in T1 carries the usual travel basics: bottled water, soft drinks, packaged sandwiches, and grab‑and‑go snacks you can take through security if they’re solid food. Expect standard airport pricing, roughly a bit higher than downtown Chania kiosks, but not out of line with other CHQ shops. You’ll also find phone chargers, adaptors, and basic travel-sized toiletries if you forgot something in your hotel room.
The shop sits in the Departures Free Access Area, so it works as a meeting point if your group is splitting up before security. Opening hours generally track flight banks, with the store open from early morning departures into the late evening when T1 still has scheduled flights. You can usually grab a coffee in the terminal and then swing by Hudson for reading material within a two‑minute walk.
Use Hudson at CHQ to top up on reading: they stock newspapers and magazines, along with paperback books in English and other European languages, right outside the T1 security checkpoint. If you’re tight on time, head here first, then move straight to security so you’re not stuck in the landside crowd longer than needed.
