The Air New Zealand International Lounge in Terminal T at Christchurch (CHC) sits airside after security and handles everyone with Star Alliance access: Air New Zealand Koru Club members, Business Class on NZ or SQ, plus Priority Pass cardholders. There is only one ANZ lounge on the international side, so Singapore Airlines, United codeshares and NZ long‑haul all funnel into the same room.

Hours float around the schedule, but the rule is simple: doors open about 2.5 hours before your flight’s departure. Don’t bank on early‑morning access if nothing long‑haul is going out.

Reviews group CHC international with the “bland buffet” crowd, fine for a quick bite but not a pre‑flight dinner if you’re used to SQ SilverKris or a Middle Eastern carrier’s spread. Expect self‑serve soft drinks, beer and wine rather than anything elaborate.

Bar options are mostly New Zealand beers and local wines on tap or in bottles, plus basic spirits on a self‑pour counter. Coffee comes from an espresso machine you operate yourself; at busy times before the SIN flights, that machine and the toaster are the main choke points. If you care about a half‑decent flat white, hit the machine as soon as you sit down.

Regulars treat this lounge as a staging area, not an evening out. Many Koru and Star Alliance Gold flyers on CHC–AKL–long‑haul routings arrive maybe 60–75 minutes before boarding, grab a snack and drink, then plan their real lounge stop in Auckland instead. For the late‑night SIN services, they often time it so they’re in here for less than an hour.

Watch out for gate awareness. In broader Koru threads, members warn that departure calls are inconsistent across the network, and CHC international follows that pattern. Don’t wait for someone to yell “Singapore to SIN now boarding” – keep one eye on the screens and assume a 10‑minute walk to most international gates.

Practical tip: if you care about ambience and have Priority Pass, consider a coffee or meal in the main international concourse first, then use the Air New Zealand International Lounge mainly for power, Wi‑Fi and a last bathroom stop in the 60–90 minutes before departure.
