Gate-side in Terminal 1, Terracotta is your sit-down option

Right in Terminal 1 after security, Terracotta works as the main full-service restaurant before you head to the A and B gates. Seating is standard tables with a view of the concourse, so you can keep an eye on boarding for flights with 30–40 minute calls. It’s one of the few places in this terminal where you can get a proper plated meal instead of a takeaway sandwich.

The menu runs through German standards, pasta, and pizza, with mains generally landing in the €12–€18 range. You’ll see schnitzel, pasta with tomato or cream sauces, and basic salads. Portions trend on the larger side, so a single main is usually enough unless you’ve skipped a meal between Cologne and a longer-haul connection. Expect typical airport pricing on soft drinks and beer in the €3–€6 bracket.

Service pace at Terracotta fits a 45–60 minute sit-down break, which matters if your boarding pass shows a tight turnaround on a Schengen flight from Terminal 1. Staff handle both walk-ins and passengers dragging rollaboards, so you can usually keep your carry-on at the table. Payment by card is standard, and receipts print in euros only, which helps when you’re filing expenses later.

Plan on grabbing a table at Terracotta before heading to security if you prefer a calmer meal ahead of evening bank departures from Terminal 1. Build in at least 60 minutes before boarding: 10 minutes to be seated, 30 minutes to eat, and a 20-minute buffer to walk to most gates.
