Terminal 1 regulars treat Bistro D as the default sit-down option.

Bistro D sits landside in Terminal 1, so it works if you arrive early at CGN or are waiting on a pickup and don’t want to clear security yet. It runs through the main part of the day (check same-day hours, as they shift with flight schedules) and functions more like a classic German bar-bistro than a quick takeaway counter.

The menu leans into straightforward snacks and bar plates you’d expect in a Terminal 1 airport bistro: think sandwiches, small hot dishes, and beer or wine by the glass. Prices sit in the mid-airport range; plan on roughly €10–15 for something filling plus a drink. If you just need a coffee and pastry before a morning departure from T1, it’s usually quieter than grabbing something right at the security queue.

Bar service is the main draw: you can grab a Kölsch before moving on to your gate in Terminal 1’s A or B areas. Staff typically handle both bar and table service, so timing can stretch a bit during late-afternoon bank departures, roughly 16:00–19:00. If your boarding time is tight, pay when your food arrives rather than waiting for the check.

There aren’t many deep-dive reviews of Bistro D, which tracks with its reputation as “one more standard bar/bistro” in CGN Terminal 1. That also means no standout signatures or horror stories have surfaced. Think of it as a sit-down upgrade over grabbing a packaged sandwich from a kiosk, not as a destination food stop.

Tip: If you’re connecting through Terminal 2, don’t plant yourself here too long; walking from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 can easily eat 10–15 minutes once you factor in elevators, crowds, and security lines.
