CDGVal is the free automated shuttle that links Terminal 1, Terminal 3/Roissypôle, and Terminal 2 via the Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 – TGV/RER station in about 10 minutes end to end. Trains usually run roughly 04:00–01:00, with buses taking over sections during overnight or maintenance shutdowns posted on airport signs.

The shuttle costs $0 and runs every 4–8 minutes in normal service, which is why points bloggers keep calling it “the one thing CDG gets right” for inter-terminal transfers. Figure around 5 minutes of actual ride time from T3/Roissypôle to the TGV station, then another few minutes to T1, so it beats walking the long indoor corridors between parts of Terminal 2.

From Terminal 3 low-cost arrivals, CDGVal is usually the quickest way to a long-haul at 2E if you’re self-connecting and trying to do it in under an hour. A Reddit user mentioned CDGVal “saved my self-transfer” going T3 to 2E, but remember you still re-clear security and possibly passport control, which can easily eat 30–40 minutes alone.

CDGVal stops at Roissypôle for buses and some airport hotels, plus several parking lots like P1 and P3, so you can move between car parks, TGV/RER, and all three terminals without touching the public road network. Regulars use Roissypôle as the pivot: off there for public buses, staff shuttles, and many hotel shuttles instead of wandering each terminal forecourt.

Inside Terminal 2, CDGVal connects at the Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 – TGV station, but you may still have a long indoor walk to sub-terminals like 2G, 2F, and 2E gates K/L/M. Plan at least 15–20 minutes from CDGVal to far-flung piers like 2G, since that section is bus-fed and not directly on the train line.

Service is frequent but not instant; several flyers report waiting close to 5 minutes off-peak, which matters if your self-connection buffer is only 45–60 minutes. Crowded early-morning banks after multiple long-haul arrivals can pack cars with luggage, so you might let one or two trains go by if you want space rather than standing pressed against the doors.

Older travelers often mention the limited seating and rough lurch when the shuttle starts, especially if they board last with bags and have to stand. If balance is an issue, aim for a corner handrail and avoid parking heavy suitcases in the middle aisle, where they slide when the train brakes between T1, Roissypôle, and the TGV stop.

What regulars do: stand by the doors a minute before arrival so they’re first off at 2E or 1 and reach immigration or security queues ahead of the pack. One last tip: if you have a tight self-transfer, build a 10–15 minute buffer for CDGVal waits and walking on top of the published 10-minute shuttle time.
