Active-duty and families only: USO Lounge in the Main Terminal

The USO Lounge at BWI sits landside in the Main Terminal, serving active-duty military, reservists, retirees, and their families before security. You’ll find it in the main concourse area of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, a useful stop if you’re checking in at BWI’s single Terminal and have time before heading through TSA.

Access is limited to eligible military ID holders and their dependents, so this isn’t a Priority Pass or credit card lounge. Compared with airline clubs at BWI that can run $59 per visit, the USO provides a no-cost space funded by donations and volunteers. Always bring a current military ID or dependent card; that’s checked at the front desk.

The lounge typically opens early in the morning to match first departures out of BWI, often around 06:00, and stays open into the evening, though hours can shift with staffing and flight schedules. Because it’s before security, you’ll want to leave at least 25–30 minutes to reach TSA checkpoints and your gate once you head out, more if you’re flying during peak morning banks.

Expect basics: comfortable seating, TV, and usually some snacks and soft drinks at no charge. Compared with paying $4–$6 for a bottled drink and $8–$12 for a sandwich in the Terminal food court, grabbing something small here can cut your pre-flight spend. Exact food options vary by donation, so don’t count on a full meal, but it usually covers the gap between home and the plane.

The USO often offers charging points and sometimes a computer station or printer, which can help if you need to reprint boarding passes or orders before checking in at your airline’s desks on the departures level.
