Gate A5 counter that just says “American” and sells basics
This food stand sits directly across from gate A5 in Terminal A, past security for the A/B split. It runs on typical early-to-last-flight airport hours, usually opening before the first morning departures around 5:00 a.m. and staying open until the last A5 bank clears in the late evening. Think quick grab-and-go before a Southwest or Alaska hop rather than a sit-down meal.
Menu is standard airport snack bar: pre-made sandwiches, packaged salads, chips, candy bars, and bottled drinks. Expect prices in the $4–$6 range for snacks and $3–$5 for coffee or soft drinks. Portion sizes lean small, so if you want a real meal before a longer leg, you’re better off walking the short corridor toward the main food cluster near the A/B fork rather than relying on this counter.
Seating is basically the gate area at A5, with just a couple of high-top spots directly beside the stand. Most people grab food here and eat in the regular gate chairs or take it down toward A3/A7. Because it’s so close to boarding, lines spike in the 20 minutes before each departure and move slowly when one staffer is working the register and heating food.
Tip: If you see more than five people in line at A5, walk toward the center of Terminal A and check the other food options; you’ll often be back at your gate with food in under 10 minutes.
