Gate-side sushi and bowls in Terminal 2

Ta.sh.ba sits airside in Terminal 2 at Budapest Liszt Ferenc, a rare non-fast-food option when you’ve already passed security. It leans Japanese and pan-Asian: think sushi rolls, poke-style bowls, ramen, and a few grilled items instead of burgers and pizzas. Expect airport pricing, with most mains landing around €12–€18 and bottled drinks over €3.

The menu usually has salmon and tuna maki, mixed sushi platters, miso soup, simple ramen, and rice or noodle bowls assembled to order. You’ll see pre-made sushi boxes in the cold case if you’re in a rush; those tend to run in the €10–€14 range depending on how much fish you get. If you have 30–40 minutes before boarding, sitting down for a hot bowl is more satisfying than grabbing another generic sandwich from a nearby kiosk.

Service runs throughout the main daytime bank of flights from early morning into the evening, roughly covering the 06:00–22:00 window when Terminal 2 is busiest. Seating is basic bar stools and small tables along the concourse, with direct views of nearby gates and the FIDS screens, so you can keep an eye on a 20:15 departure while you eat. Power outlets are limited, so don’t count on charging a laptop here during a longer layover.

Portions skew European-medium, not US-huge: a standard bowl fills one hungry person but won’t stretch for two, and a single sushi box works as a light meal before a 2–3 hour flight. Beer and wine are available by the bottle or glass at typical Budapest airport markups, often around €5–€7. If you need something vegetarian, look for avocado or cucumber rolls and tofu or veggie bowls listed on the same main board as the sushi specials.

Tip: if your gate in Terminal 2 changes last-minute, Ta.sh.ba’s open layout makes it easy to grab a takeaway box and walk straight to boarding when the screen flips from “Go to gate” to “Final call.”
