Hot meal and a beer? O’Learys is the default at T2
In Terminal 2’s SkyCourt, airside after security, O’Learys Sports Bar is the sit-down spot most people actually name when asked where to eat at BUD. It sits above the central hall, so you’re still close to the 2A and 2B gate clusters while you eat. Expect sports-bar staples, table service, and a full bar instead of food-court trays and plastic cutlery.
Menus lean American: burgers, wings, ribs, fries and salads, plus Hungarian beer on tap and standard spirits. Mains usually land in the 4,500–7,000 HUF range, with beers often around what you’d pay in a midrange city pub rather than downtown Budapest prices. Portions get called “decent” in reviews, so one burger and fries is normally enough to cover you through a 2–3 hour flight.
Opening hours track the morning and evening departure banks, with doors typically open by the early Schengen flights and still serving through the late-night UK and low‑cost departures. It’s fully post‑security in SkyCourt, so anyone flying from Terminal 2 can eat here without an extra walk to 2A or 2B. Figure 45–60 minutes for a relaxed sit‑down meal before a non‑Schengen gate like B12 or C5.
Order the classic beef burger or chicken wings if you want the “same as other O’Learys” taste that one TripAdvisor regular mentions. Skip anything too elaborate if your boarding starts in under 30 minutes; several guests report slow service during the evening peaks, especially before 18:00–21:00 departures. If the bar is two‑deep for beer, bottled options usually arrive faster than draft.
What regulars do: clear security, walk straight into SkyCourt, and claim a table at O’Learys before checking FIDS for gates like A10 or B1. They plan on one pint here instead of gambling on buy‑on‑board sandwiches that cost almost as much. Tip: during big football matches, TV screens fill with fans, so arrive at least an hour before kick‑off if you actually want to sit and eat.
