Gate signs for Alaska and Delta mark the North Terminal

The North Terminal at Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport (BTV) handles flights for Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, and Delta Air Lines. BTV runs as a small single-building airport, so "North" is more of a wing than a stand-alone terminal. Expect short walks between check-in, security, and the gates compared with larger hubs.

Check-in counters for American, Delta, and Alaska sit in the same main hall that also serves the South side. Allegiant usually operates fewer daily departures, so its counters may only open a couple of hours before a flight. Build a 75–90 minute buffer from curb to gate during winter ski season or peak summer weekends; the ticketing area can feel tight once a couple of flights bank together.

Security for the North Terminal uses the shared BTV checkpoint on the main level, just past the central atrium. There is no dedicated PreCheck-only lane reported, but TSA screens both North and South passengers through the same lanes. With only a handful of gates total, lines can go from 5 minutes to 25 minutes quickly, especially before early morning departures around 5:00–7:30 a.m.

Post-security, the North Terminal connects via a short corridor to the rest of the concourse, and walking from one end of the building to the other typically takes under 5 minutes. Gates serving Alaska, Allegiant, American, and Delta are grouped closely, so tight connections within BTV are usually about gate changes, not long hikes. The ongoing terminal expansion work occasionally shifts exact gate numbers, but it does not add much distance.

Food and retail inside the North Terminal itself are limited; there are no catalogued restaurants, shops, or branded lounges assigned specifically to this wing. Plan on grabbing coffee, snacks, or a meal either landside before security or at the more central concourse spots that serve the whole airport. Prices track typical small-airport levels, so think modest markup over downtown Burlington rather than big-hub extremes.

There are no airline or independent lounges listed for the North Terminal or BTV in general, including for American or Delta elites. If you need quiet space, your best bet is to find an empty gate area during off-peak times between banks. Power outlets cluster near seating at most gates; bring a small multi-port charger if two of you need to plug in at once.

Restrooms sit near gate clusters on the North side, usually within a 1–2 minute walk from any boarding door. Families should plan bathroom stops before boarding because some regional jets on these routes use smaller lavs that back up quickly. Water fountains and bottle fillers sit close to restroom entrances, so it’s easy to top up a bottle right after washing up.

Routing quirks: if your itinerary shows a North-to-South connection at BTV on the same airline, do not stress about a terminal change. The walk between the North gates and the South side typically takes 3–4 minutes at an easy pace, fully indoors. The main pinch point is boarding time, not distance, so be at the gate area early if you’re used to bigger airports with long walks.

One practical tip: with no guaranteed quick food inside the North wing, treat the last 20 minutes before heading through security as your “stock up” window in the main terminal or from nearby off-airport spots; after that, focus on getting through security and to your gate without extra detours.
