PJ's Coffee

5:30 a.m. espresso before a Main Terminal flight

PJ's Coffee sits past security in BTR’s Main Terminal, across from the small central hold room, and it’s one of the only spots open early for a real espresso. Doors usually open around 5:30 a.m., in time for the first Delta and American departures, then stay open through the last evening bank. If you want caffeine before a 6:00 a.m. flight, this counter is your shot.

Menu is the standard PJ’s lineup: hot and iced coffee drinks, flavored lattes, frozen “Granita” blends, plus teas and hot chocolate. Expect airport pricing: a basic drip coffee lands around $3–$4, with lattes and blended drinks pushing closer to $6–$7 for larger sizes. Syrup flavors like Southern Pecan and Vanilla are usually in stock, but the more seasonal flavors can run out late in the day.

Food is limited to grab-and-go items in a small case near the register: packaged muffins, bagels, cookies, and occasionally breakfast sandwiches heated in a small oven. Think quick carb alongside your latte, not a full meal. Most items hover in the $3–$6 range. With only a few barstools at the counter and no real tables, plan on carrying everything back to your gate.

Lines spike in the 6:00–7:30 a.m. window when several departures stack up, and a single barista on duty can turn a three-person queue into a 10-minute wait. Midday, it’s usually walk-up service with your drink out in under five minutes. They do accept credit cards and mobile pay, but BTR’s Wi‑Fi can glitch, which sometimes slows the card terminal.

Tip: If you have a tight 30-minute boarding window, order plain brewed coffee and a pastry; the espresso and blended drinks take noticeably longer when there’s only one machine running.
