Garage parking at BTR now runs on Metropolis’ AI system
Premium Parking at Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport is essentially the on-site public garage by the Main Terminal, now running on the Metropolis camera/AI setup instead of tickets. You drive in, the system reads your plate, and you pay on exit or via an online account. It is the closest on-airport option compared with the separate Economy lot farther from the terminal.
The airport’s own materials and third-party brokers only list two on-airport products at BTR: Garage and Economy. There is no separate valet line, reserved row, or signed “premium” section inside the garage itself. When you see “Premium Parking” in booking tools, read it as the standard BTR garage with the upgraded Metropolis entry/exit, not a higher tier with special bays or an exclusive floor.
Rates publish as a flat daily charge per calendar day for the garage, with Economy undercutting it by several dollars per day. If you are price-sensitive and staying more than 3–4 days, the Economy lot usually wins on total cost. If you care more about walking distance to the Main Terminal and staying on concrete rather than open overflow, the garage/Premium option is the one you want to select in the dropdown.
Entry and exit are fully automated via the Metropolis system, which runs 24/7 alongside the airport’s flight schedule. You can park without creating an account and pay at the end of your stay, or pre-enroll a plate online for automatic billing. Because everything is plate-based, make sure the plate number in any app or booking matches the car you actually drive to BTR.
There are no consistent reports of jams at the Metropolis gates yet, but plate readers anywhere can misread in heavy rain or if your plate frame covers state text. If the gate does not open in under 10 seconds, press the help/intercom button by the entry column rather than backing up and trying another lane. Tip: snap a quick photo of your license plate on your phone before you leave home so you can confirm the exact sequence if support asks.
