Four EV charging spots sit right in the Main Terminal lot
The EV Charging Stations are in the Main Terminal public parking lot at Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport (BRO), so you park and plug in the same place. Parking here follows the standard terminal lot rates, currently starting at a few dollars per hour and capping at a daily max that matches the rest of the lot. The stations sit within an easy walk of the terminal entrance, so you’re not hauling bags across the outer overflow areas.
These chargers are set up in the primary terminal-side lot used by all BRO airlines, including American and United, so you don’t have to think about a “correct” terminal. The lot operates 24/7 when flights are running, and charging is available whenever the lot is open. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes earlier than you normally would so you’re not circling for one of the four dedicated EV spaces if the lot is filling up around the morning or late-afternoon banks.
Pricing for charging itself is subject to the airport’s current vendor setup, but you still pay the regular terminal parking fee for the space. Stays of under 24 hours follow the posted hourly increments, while longer trips use the daily maximum for the main lot. If you’re leaving the car for several days, don’t worry about tying up a fast charger the entire time; typical etiquette here is to unplug once you’ve reached a healthy charge and leave the car parked in the same signed spot.
There’s no separate entrance for EV Charging Stations; use the same access road that feeds the Main Terminal parking, following signs for public parking. On return, walk straight out of baggage claim toward the main lot and you’ll see the EV spaces near the front rows. One practical move: snap a photo of the row number and charger post when you park so finding your car is painless on the way back.
