Flag a Yellow Cab outside Main terminal baggage claim

Yellow Cab serves Jack Brooks Regional Airport (BPT) with metered taxis waiting directly outside the Main terminal baggage claim doors. There’s no kiosk inside; you walk out, look for the Yellow Cab logo, and line up curbside. Service runs 24/7, but after 22:00 the line can be thin, so expect to call in a car instead of just walking into one.

Most rides from BPT into Beaumont run about 15–20 minutes depending on traffic on US-69, and fares commonly fall in the $25–$40 range before tip. Drivers use a standard taxi meter, so you pay by time and distance, not a flat zone rate. Ask for an estimate to downtown Beaumont or Port Arthur before you get in if you’re watching a tight per diem.

Yellow Cab takes cash and major cards like Visa and Mastercard, but one or two reviewers mention slow card terminals during late-night runs after 23:00. If your flight lands late, carry at least $40 in cash to keep the drop-off quick. Tipping follows normal U.S. taxi norms: 15–20% on top of the metered fare for decent service.

If no taxis are parked outside Door 1 of the Main terminal, use your phone to call the local Yellow Cab dispatch number posted on the curbside sign near the baggage claim exit. Dispatch usually quotes a 10–20 minute wait time for a pickup at BPT, and in off-peak midday windows around 13:00–15:00 they often arrive faster. Stay at the arrivals curb; drivers are not allowed to wait at departures for taxi pickups.

Shared rides aren’t formal here, but if two parties on the same flight say they’re heading to the same Beaumont hotel, drivers sometimes agree to one meter and one drop with a split fare. That can drop your cost from about $30 solo to roughly $15 each. Just agree on who pays the meter and who reimburses whom before the cab pulls away from the curb.

Practical tip: If you have an early outbound flight before 07:00, pre-book a Yellow Cab pickup the night before and set it for at least 90 minutes before departure to give yourself 20 minutes for the ride plus a buffer for security at BPT’s Main terminal.
