Ola Cabs

Rideshare

Rideshare 30–90 min depending on traffic and destination Typical BOM–Bandra/Lower Parel/Colaba trips might range roughly ₹400–1,200 depending on car type and surge

₹400–1,200 from BOM into town if you already live on Ola

Ola Cabs at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (terminals 1 and 2) works best for domestic regulars with Indian SIMs and UPI or local cards already set. Typical rides to Bandra, Lower Parel, or Colaba land somewhere between ₹400 and ₹1,200, depending on car type, time of day, and surge. Ride time usually runs 30–90 minutes, with Eastern or Western Express Highway traffic deciding which end of that range you hit.

Both T1 and T2 have marked app-cab pickup points where Ola and Uber can stop, and you may walk 3–5 minutes from arrivals to reach them. The app will pin a specific zone or pillar number; follow that and ignore freelance touts in the baggage hall. At T2, Reddit regulars report that Ola and Uber work about the same; the difference is often just which app has a closer car in that moment.

Ola runs 24/7, but late-night (after 23:00), rush hour (roughly 18:00–21:00), and heavy monsoon rain can stretch waits from 5–10 minutes to 25–40. Many locals only hit “Book” once they are curbside with bags in hand to avoid drivers waiting and then cancelling. If surge looks ugly on Ola, people often flip to Uber for 30 seconds to compare both fare and ETA.

An Indian mobile number helps a lot: drivers often call or WhatsApp within 1–2 minutes of accepting the trip to confirm your exact pillar and destination. One r/india commenter says Ola tends to be a bit cheaper than Uber around Mumbai suburbs and that drivers often know the smaller lanes near residential areas. A short text in Hindi or English like “T2 arrivals, pillar 10” inside the app usually reduces back-and-forth calls.

Complaints cluster around three things: cancellations, cash requests, and rain. Drivers sometimes drop short or low-fare rides, especially under ₹300–₹400 or during downpours and evening peaks. Others may push for cash instead of in-app payment or suggest going off-app; most locals decline and either switch the payment method in the app or rebook another cab.

Practical tip: After customs at T2, hit the ATM or SIM counter, then book Ola only once you’re outside at the designated app-cab zone and ready to roll; that small timing change often saves one cancellation cycle.
