Croissants, coffee, and quick snacks before security in Hall A
Café Marchand sits landside in Hall A at Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport, so it works for anyone getting dropped off early or meeting arrivals. It carries a basic French café lineup: espresso-based drinks, packaged soft drinks, and counter pastries. With a 2/5 rating, expectations stay low, but it can still cover a pre-check-in caffeine stop if your hotel breakfast was a miss.
Pricing runs on the high side for what you get: think around €3 for an espresso and €4–€5 for a simple pastry like a croissant or pain au chocolat. Portions are small, more “snack” than “meal,” and there’s little in the way of real hot food. If you want something more substantial than a sandwich triangle or pre-made pastry, you’ll probably be happier eating again airside in Hall B or billi.
Seating is tight and built for turnover, with a handful of small tables directly in front of the counter in Hall A. During 07:00–10:00 and again around the 17:00 bank of departures, every chair tends to be taken by people with large checked bags. Power outlets near the tables are scarce, so don’t count on charging a laptop while you drink your coffee.
Service pace varies a lot. One staff member on the machine at peak times can mean a 10-minute line just for two cappuccinos, while off-peak you can be in and out in 3 minutes. Staff handle payments quickly and card acceptance is standard, including contactless and mobile wallets, which helps speed things along once you reach the till.
Practical tip: if you have an early departure from Hall A, grab a single coffee and pastry here as a stopgap, then plan on a second, better-quality snack once you’re through security in your actual departure hall.
