Gate-side drinks near security in BNA’s Main Terminal

The Castle sits in the Main Terminal at Nashville International Airport (BNA), just past the central security checkpoint before you branch toward the concourses. It’s primarily a bar with some light food, so think drinks-first, snacks-second. You’re still landside once you leave it, so don’t cut it too close to boarding time on the concourse side.

Hours at The Castle tend to track peak flight times in the Main Terminal, opening early morning around the first wave of departures and closing after the late evening banks; if you’re landing after 10 p.m., don’t count on it being open. Prices run in typical airport-bar territory, with mixed drinks and regional beer generally landing in the low-to-mid teens after tax and tip.

The menu leans on straightforward bar standards rather than destination dining. Expect things like wings, fries, and shareable snacks instead of full plated entrees; if you want a full meal before a 3+ hour flight, you’re usually better off heading toward the concourse restaurant clusters past the Main security zone. Still, The Castle works for a quick drink and one plate while watching the departure boards.

Seating runs along a standard bar counter with additional tables, and it fills quickly during morning and late-afternoon banks tied to Southwest and other Main Terminal carriers. If you see open bar stools while your boarding pass still shows 60+ minutes to departure, grab them; standing-room-only here isn’t rare around the 5 p.m. period. Service pace tracks crowd level, so factor in at least 20 minutes for a drink and snack when it’s busy.

Tip: If your gate is in a far concourse, put a hard stop on your tab 45 minutes before boarding, then head through the concourse-specific security lanes so you’re not sprinting to the jet bridge from the Main Terminal bar.
