Wheelchair-lift shuttle runs lot-to-terminal for free

The Parking Shuttle at Central Illinois Regional Airport runs daily from two hours before the first departure until the last arrival, and it’s complimentary on both legs of your trip. You park in the public lot, then ride between your car and the Main Terminal instead of hauling bags across the pavement. Daily parking is still whatever your lot rate is, but the shuttle itself is $0.

CIRA says the shuttle covers both the outbound ride from the parking lot to the terminal and the return ride from the terminal back to your car. The vehicle is equipped with a wheelchair lift, so it’s a solid option if rolling luggage, strollers, or mobility aids make the walk annoying. Think of it as lot-side curb service without paying off-airport prices.

To get picked up, call (866) 967-2472 once you’re parked, or use the designated shuttle phone in baggage claim after you land. The dispatcher usually asks for your exact parking section or landmark in the lot, so note the nearest row marker or light pole number when you step out of your car. Regulars call as they’re locking the doors so the van is already circling.

The shuttle only operates within its posted window from two hours pre-first departure through final arrival, so ultra-early staff calls or weather diversions outside that range may leave you walking. There aren’t many complaints out there, but this is a small-airport setup, so don’t expect a bus every three minutes. One practical move: snap a photo of your row sign and text yourself the image before you dial, so you can give the driver a precise pickup spot on the first try.
