WHSmith

T1

Near T1 security, WHSmith is your last-minute pit stop

Just past security in Terminal T1, WHSmith is the easy grab for books, snacks, and travel basics before you head to gates. It sits in the main departures retail zone, so you pass it on the way to most domestic flights. Think of it as the place to fix anything you forgot to pack or to stock up for a 2–3 hour sector out of Bengaluru.

Hours generally track T1’s first and last departures, so you’ll usually find it open from early morning bank flights through the late-night red-eyes. Pricing runs above city supermarket levels, but standard for airport retail in India: bottled water is marked up, but not as steep as some specialty kiosks nearby in T1. If you want basic chips, soft drinks, or a quick chocolate fix before boarding, this is one of the cheaper options in the terminal.

Magazine racks often carry English and regional-language titles focused on Bengaluru and Karnataka, which helps for a domestic hop to DEL, BOM, or MAA out of T1. The book section skews to mainstream bestsellers, business titles, and a handful of Indian authors, so don’t expect rare finds. Stationery and small electronics include pens, USB cables, and basic headphones that will rescue you if your gear died at the T1 security belt.

Most T1 passengers use WHSmith for grab-and-go snacks and a backup charging cable, not big hauls. Stock can thin out during peak morning banks around 06:00–09:00, especially on water and basic adapters. Tip: if you spot the plug type and cable you need, buy it on the first pass rather than assuming it will be there closer to your boarding time.
